Red blood worms as a treat for all ornamental fish from 3-10 cm
Package contents: Originally sealed, airtight and lightproof, recyclable tin with dosing aid in the lid
Red blood worms are the ideal food to strengthen fish. Larvae of the nonbiting midges sometimes occur in large numbers and in nature form a main food source for many species of fish. They are NOT the larvae of mosquitoes (Culicidae)!
Ideally, you will find a main food for your ornamental fish, e.g. JBL PRONOVO BEL and supplement it with a second main food such as e.g. JBL PRONOVO COLOR. To this one alternates delicacies and supplements such as JBL PRONOVO SPIRULINA or JBL PRONOVO FIL, FEX, DAPH or ARTEMIO. This ensures a varied diet for the well-kept fish.
Food size/mouth size:
It may sound obvious, but it is important that the feed size matches the mouth size of the fish. Not all fish are able to bite off larger chunks of food. The fish size to which the food size fits is on all JBL food cans on the bottom left on the front of the label.
There is hardly a freshwater fish that does not eat red blood worms, unless they are too big for its mouth (e.g. the neon tetra). East African cichlids from Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika should NEVER be fed red bloodworms. For reasons that are still unknown, they do not tolerate red blood worm. White or black mosquito larvae, on the other hand, do not pose any problems for the cichlids from the two lakes.
