The planarian trap

This trap gives you the opportunity to greatly reduce planarians in your aquarium without chemicals or medication.

Planaria are carnivores. Attractants with animal components are therefore recommended. Very good results have been achieved with frozen red mosquito larvae, as these are highly attractive to planarians.

Thoroughly clean the trap with tap water before using it for the first time.

Directions:
1. Open the trap by pulling the rubber stopper off the trap.
2. Fill the bottom of the trap with a suitable attractant (e.g. food tablets, crushed red mosquito larvae or similar).
3. Fill the trap with water by immersing it in the aquarium and put the rubber stopper with the inlet tube back on the trap under water. Make sure there are no air bubbles left in the trap or entry tube, and that there is no attractant food left in the entry tube to block the path. The entrance tube should be centered in the trap chamber.
4. Place the trap at the bottom of the aquarium. The entrance funnel should be in light contact with the substrate or placed so that it is touching a rock or plant. Contact with an object makes it easier for the planarians to enter the trap.

TIP:
If you turn off your aquarium lights, planarians are often more active and you will get better results.
Don't leave the trap in your tank for several days, as the food you're using as a bait may start to rot.

Also catches:
Flukes, mussel crabs, hoppers and many other pests in the aquarium ...

Optional additional article:
Shrimpprotect - prevents your baby shrimp from getting caught in the trap

Cleaning:
Thoroughly clean the trap with tap water after each use.

Beware:
Never use dish soap or other cleaning products. The residues of cleaning agents could harm the aquarium inhabitants!
