Bacopa australis is a stem plant native to Brazil. In culture, this plant is very easy. In the terrestrial form their leaflets are smaller and fleshier, but in the aquarium they are very delicate and thin-skinned. Its leaves are rounded and an intense light green, and it looks a bit like a larger version of Micranhemum umbrosum. Regular pruning is recommended to achieve a compact, bushy group of plants. Their area of application in the aquarium is primarily the middle ground and background. If kept small enough, the southern bacopa is also suitable for the foreground in larger aquariums.
