Bucephalandra belong to the Aracaea genus. This plant occurs naturally only on the island of Borneo. They are endemics, i.e. plants that can only be found in a small, delimited area. Bucephalandra can be attached to roots, wood or coconuts. However, according to experience, they grow best on rock. Lava rock, granite or slabs of slate are used for this purpose, for example, because they also adhere well to smooth rock. They do very well with little light and only small amounts of fertilizer.
