The Marsilea minuta (formerly Marsilea crenata) originally comes from tropical areas in Asia and Australia. It forms emersed (above water) cloverleaf-like leaves, which is why it is called dwarf clover fern in German. In the aquarium, this Marsilea forms a low and dense carpet with very small and rounded leaves. This carpet is around 1 to 3 cm high and the leaves no wider than around 5 mm. It is important to note that the new leaves have a brownish colour. This is normal for this plant and does not mean that they have died. Marsilea minuta is an undemanding and rewarding carpeting plant that also does well in less light.
