Caridina multidenta var. "Snow" is a breeding form of the Amano shrimp, in which the animals have a permanent white coloring - in contrast to the classic Amano shrimp, which can be white under certain circumstances, but will always revert to the usual wild color under normal aquarium conditions.
The Amano Shrimp was named after the world famous inventor of aquascaping, Takashi Amano. The Amano shrimp is the best choice, especially in beautifully decorated plant tanks or aquascapes, and due to its ability to eat massive amounts of algae, it has probably become one of the most popular dwarf shrimp of all. String algae in particular are on their menu. In contrast to most other dwarf shrimp, the Amanos need more protein to eat. Since the larvae of the Amano shrimp need salt water to develop, we do not breed the animals ourselves.
