Pogostemon yatabeanus is an aquarium plant not yet very well known in Europe, although Takashi Amano used it for his aquascapes as early as the 1990s. Its natural range is East Asia, where it can be found in paddy fields and other wet locations. With its narrow, slanting leaves, it differs greatly from most of its conspecifics, such as Pogostemon helferi or stellatus. The Pogostemon yatabeanus is also a bit easier to care for than the aforementioned conspecifics and looks particularly good in the middle and background of the aquarium.
