Ludwigia brevipes is a colorful stem plant with narrow leaves ranging in color from green to orange-red. It is ideal for the middle ground or foreground of larger aquariums and forms a nice contrast to green and round-leaved plants. In terms of care, it is a little more demanding than other Ludwigia species and needs rather strong lighting and a good supply of nutrients in order to thrive. Only under these conditions does it develop its full splendor of colour. The compact, bushy growth of this fast-growing plant can be promoted with regular pruning. In the emersed form, Ludwigia brevipes grows creeping and develops dark green leaves and light yellow flowers.
