Hygrophila polysperma "Sunset" is a beautifully colored and fast-growing aquatic plant, which originally comes from Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its pink colored leaves with often white leaf veins. Since the plant is easy to care for, it is well suited for beginners. Using this plant in a new tank is good because it absorbs excess nutrients quickly. This makes it difficult for the algae to spread in the aquarium. The addition of CO2 is not absolutely necessary for keeping this plant, but this is what produces the typical red coloration.
