Carnivorous plant for the terrarium
Carnivorous plants are plants that are usually single-celled or arthropods by means of transformed leaves, but - depending on the species - also catch and digest larger prey, including frogs, and thus ensure their nutrient supply even in extreme locations such as moors or bare rocks. Carnivorous plants usually grow quite slowly and are therefore only competitive there, while other plants cannot or can hardly grow due to a lack of nutrients. Such nutrient-poor locations include moors, tropical rainforests, tropical mesas, sand or rocks. Furthermore, an adequate supply of light and water must be guaranteed so that the trapping leaves can carry out sufficient photosynthesis to generate energy for the plant. Carnivorous plants therefore quickly appear in full sun or at least very bright locations. Most species also like to grow in moist soil, but some can also get their water needs from fog or dew. The majority of species also require high humidity of over 70%.
